When considering a hotel to stay at in Curacao, there are a few things you should consider. As always, it can get a bit overwhelming when having to choose a hotel. So I decided to make it easy for you, by highlighting the 3 most important things to consider: Location, Amenities and Price.
Imagening your vacation to Curacao being at a hotel on the beach? Than you should book one of the many beach hotels Curacao has to offer. That is not a difficult task. Nonetheless there are some other factors to consider when booking a hotel.
Keep in mind that if you want to see the whole island (recommended), you would have to rent a car or pay for taxi. If you just want to see the World Heritage Site of Willemstad, than you might consider something closer to the city. This way you won’t have to worry about transportation. Everything will be close by. These hotels are: Howard Johnson, Plaza Hotel Curacao, Hotel Kura Hulanda, San Marco Hotel and Renaissance Curacao Resort
Are you someone who wants to get away from it all? Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort and Kura Hulanda Lodge are places to consider. Santa Barabara is the only structure in its area of the island. Surrounded by quietness, luxury and relaxation, Santa Barbara is the place to be for the ultimate getaway vacation. On the opposite side of Curacao, you will find Kura Hulanda Lodge. Though it has more houses surrounding it, the same level of relaxation awaits. A highlight of the Kura Hulanda Lodge is that you will get a complimentary scheduled shuttle to Kura Hulanda Hotel, which is located in Willemstad. This means that you can visit Willemstad at no charge.
Just like booking a hotel anywhere else, you have to check out the amenities to make sure they match what you envision as the perfect vacation. One thing that a lot of people do not pay attention to when booking a Curacao hotel is Wi-Fi internet access. Places like Sunscape, Marriott and Hilton, all charge a fee for using their wireless internet. Free internet access can be found at: Santa Barbara, Lion’s Dive, Plaza Hotel and Kura Hulanda.
Another important amenity to consider is access to a beach or pool. You should check this out because some places that are not located on the beach, still offer free beach access nearby. Not interested in swimming at the beach? The price for your hotel stay could drop.
Some hotels do offer a shuttle to Willemstad. So even if you are not staying near the city, you will still get access to it.
Curacao Marriott (picture above), Avila Hotel and Hilton Curacao all offer this service.
Last but not least, you would have to consider the price before booking your hotel. Between mid December and mid April is High Season in Curacao. Meaning that the hotel prices are higher than other times. This of course is because most of the island visitors are trying to escape the winter weather. Saving $50 -$100 a night on hotel is easy if you avoid the High Season.
Hotel prices vary drastically, but expect it to be around $100 to $350 per night for your rooms. Hotels are not cheap. Luckily it’s worth seeing the island. Check out some other tips on saving on your Curacao hotel stay here.
Where to stay in Curacao will be completely up to you. These points will help narrow down your decision. Is there something else you find is worth considering? Share it in a comment.
